Tokyo Holiday Vacation Information
Tokyo Holiday Language Barrier
A Tokyo holiday in Japan can be an overwhelming and confusing thing to try to plan. After all, trying to deal with the many hotels and travel companies over there can be difficult, as they are not likely to be native English speakers, and even if you book with a company over here in the states it is likely that sometime during your Tokyo holiday you will run into the language barrier. While there are myriad books and tapes and cds and dvds to help you be prepared for all of the basic conversation and interactions that are likely to come up during a Tokyo holiday, it is very difficult to be prepared for anything without really studying and learning the Japanese language (Nihongo). Which is why I am studying the language in preparation for my Tokyo holiday. I intend to have a thorough comprehension of the language by the time I go.
Tokyo Holiday Overcrowding
A Tokyo holiday in Japan can be a really exciting, energetic thing, but it can be overwhelming for people to be in a city of 30 million people. While many people think it would be awesome to go to a festival while taking their Tokyo holiday, one should definitely consider what a festival in a city of 30 million will really be like. Big, yes. Loud, yes. Crowded, maybe even cramped, yes. After all, consider that many people from the environs of Tokyo will likely come for their own short Tokyo holiday during festival times. While it will most likely be a lifetime sort of experience, make sure you are prepared for what it will really be like.
Tokyo Holiday Food and Culture
There are a myriad other things about the culture in Tokyo Japan that you will run into in your Tokyo holiday, things that can be off-putting or even troublesome if you are not prepared for them either mentally, physically, or both. Things like food, which in a near coastal Japan city like Tokyo is often seafood, rice, or both. It can be very difficult if you are someone who does not like seafood or someone who is vegetarian to find food on your Tokyo holiday that will be acceptable with your diet. Also there are the culture differences when it comes to service, cost and prices, what amenities to expect, etc. This is why study and knowledge of both the history and the present can be an invaluable asset to your Tokyo holiday (even though many of us do not think study should go with a holiday; but a little study can go a long way). So happy Tokyo holiday!
